USS ATAKAPA ATF 149 - REUNION 2008
3410 Ridge Road
Buford, GA 30519-4029

Dear Atakapa Shipmate:

Plans for our second annual USS ATAKAPA ATF 149 Reunion are finalized.
At last year’s reunion, the guys voted to go back to where it all
began–Norfolk, Virginia. We will meet October 23rd - 26th, 2008 at
the Doubletree Hotel, Norfolk Airport, 880 North Military Highway,
in Norfolk.

The Doubletree Hotel Norfolk is a Three Diamond/Triple A rated hotel
and is attached to The Gallery at Military Circle. The Gallery is a
shopping mall with over 120 merchants (their newest anchor being
“Macy’s”). The mall also includes a variety of eateries and an
18-screen Cinemark theater complex. The hotel offers free parking to
all guests and complimentary transportation to and from the Norfolk
International Airport. Non-smoking and ADA-accessible rooms are available.
There is also a full-service restaurant and lounge, outdoor swimming
pool and sun deck, a poolside fitness room, gift shop, coin-operated
guest laundry, an ATM, room service, safety deposit boxes, and high-
speed Internet access, just to name a few of the amenities offered.
Guests are also welcomed with their famous, warm Doubletree chocolate
chip cookie and a smile!

You will need to contact the Doubletree for room reservations by
September 23rd, 2008. A pre-arranged room rate of $89.00 (plus tax)
per night has been secured for this event. This price is for Single
and Double Occupancy (there is a $7.00 per extra person charge over
two); and also includes a full, hot breakfast buffet. When you call,
please ask for the Atakapa Group Rate. The phone numbers for making
reservations are 757-461-9192 or 1-800-284-4292. Additionally, the
hotel requires a $20.00 credit card or cash deposit at the time of
check-in for any incidental charges you may occur during your stay.
For more information on the hotel, please visit their website at:
www.norfolkairport.doubletree.com.
Please note: Check-in Time is at 3:00 pm; Check-out is 12:00 Noon

you will need to complete the Registration Form, include your check or
money order made payable to USS Atakapa Reunion Fund, and mail to
Ronald P. Buice, 3410 Ridge Road, Buford, GA, 30519. The total cost
of the tours, banquet, and welcome reception is $255.00 per person.
