I served on the Atakapa, TAD, for one week in Jan 1964. We were off the Virginia Capes doing a TORPEX. During a lull in the exercise, we sighted a 50 gal drum. The sea was rough, but the crew broke out every 45, M1, and loaded the 3 inch. That barrel was sunk. I was so proud of those guys.
